SC sets July 31 deadline for liquor traders to dump stock outside Bihar

The Supreme Court gave liquor manufacturers and sellers in Bihar time till July 31 to dispose of their stock outside the state. The Nitish Kumar government had banned liquor sale and consumption in Bihar from April 1, 2016.
The apex court vacation Bench headed by Justice AK Sikri considered the submission of the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies that they were facing a huge financial loss following the liquor ban in the state.
The industry body told the court that their stock of liquor is worth over Rs 200 crore, and sought the court's permission to dispose of the stock in other states where liquor consumption is not banned.

North Korea tests yet another short-range missile

North Korea has fired a short-range ballistic missile, the third, apparently successful, test in as many weeks. 
South Korea's military says the missile flew nearly 450 kilometers before landing in the sea. It says the missile was launched from North Korea's eastern coast and believed to be a Scud-class ballistic missile. 
Japan's Defense Ministry also confirmed the missile launch. Japan's chief Cabinet Secretary, Yoshihide Suga, said the missile landed in the exclusive economic zone of Japan between Sado and Oki islands.

E-rickshaw driver bludgeoned to death for objecting to urinating in public

A 31-year-old e-rickshaw driver was bludgeoned to death for preventing two men from urinating in public in northwest Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar area. 
Ravindra Kumar raised objections to the men urinating outside Gate number 4 of the GTB Nagar Metro station and asked them to use the Sulabh Shauchalaya (Sulabh toilet), barely five metres away. 
Enraged over Kumar’s action, the duo threatened to teach him a lesson. Later, they came back to the spot and assaulted the driver with the help of 20 others, according to the Delhi Police. 
Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere said no arrests have been made so far in connection to the case and that an investigation is underway.

Verdict on Abu Salem in Mumbai blasts case, 1993, today

The special Terrorist And Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) court in Mumbai may pronounce its orders in 1993 Mumbai blasts case today. The case involves Abu Salem, the extradited gangster, among others as accused. 
Karimullah Khan, Feroze Abdul Rashid, Tahir Merchant and Mustafa Dossa are the other accused in the case. 
The TADA court had in 2006 convicted 100 accused, including Yakub Memon who was executed on July 30, 2015.

PM Modi embarks on a four-nation tour today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a four nation tour beginning today. He will visit Germany first. Trade and commerce, economic cooperation and counter terrorism will be high on the agenda during the Prime Minister’s visit to Germany, Spain, Russia and France. 
Modi will take part in series of events during his visit to three West European countries and Russia. He will take part in the 4th Indo-German Inter-governmental Consultations and meet German Chancellor to strengthen bilateral relations.
