India's dismal show in ICC tournament finals have been quite disappointing for the fans and cricket board. This is the second-successive loss for India in the ICC World Test Championship final (WTC 2023). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to take some measures in the coming one month after Team India's failure in the WTC 2023 final. One of them could be the removal of Rohit Sharma as Test captain. While nothing is confirmed so far, in terms of changes that are to come soon, we take a look at 3 changes that may benefit India in the format in the long run. 

Sanju Samson has been shockingly ignored for a spot in the South Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy 2023. Given that Team India is without a permanent wicketkeeper in the absence of Rishabh Pant, the selectors were expected to give Samson a chance ahead of the West Indies series. But the right-handed batsman has been ignored.

Samson did ply his trade in the 2022/23 Ranji Trophy season and led Kerala. The wicketkeeper-batsman was in form in red-ball cricket and scored 284 runs at an average of 56.80. His tally included three half-centuries.

Former England captain Eoin Morgan has shed light on him never getting to take part in the iconic Ashes battles between Australia and England, regretting the lost opportunity in his playing career. The World Cup winner, who is gearing up for a commentary stint in the Ashes, was seen as someone who revolutionised white-ball cricket in England but the star batter always understood the significance and importance of Test cricket. 

Eoin Morgan played 16 Tests and scored 700 runs after making his debut in whites for England in 2010. However, Morgan did not play the longest format of the game since 2012. 

Morgan was part of the 2010-11 Ashes touring party but he was a spare batter and never got an opportunity to play for England in the prestigious battle.

While several theories and reports regarding Gambhir vs Kohli spat surfaced, what exactly happened on the field still remains hidden. 

India's performance was surprisingly disappointing with both bat and ball. Apart from a few patches of brilliance, it was mostly a poor outing from the Indian side in yet another ICC tournament final," observed the commentator. However, Indian captain Rohit Sharma remained steadfast in his pride for the team, even in the face of defeat. The Indian team fell short of winning their second WTC final in a row, but Rohit emphasized that it does not diminish the level of consistency they displayed over the past two years.

"We fought till the end. We've worked hard for all those four years. Playing two finals is honestly a good achievement for us. But we'd like to go a mile ahead as well. You can't take the credit away from what we've done in those last two years to come here. Great effort from the entire unit. Unfortunate that we couldn't go on and win the final, but we'll keep our heads high and fight," expressed Rohit following the defeat.
