Australia ended the fourth day at the score of 3 without loss. Their openers Matthew Kuhnemann and Travis Head remained unbeaten at the crease. The guests still trail India by 88 runs.

Peter Handscomb, who had just effected a brilliant run-out, ran forward, timed his jump to perfection but failed to hang onto it. The ball slipped out of his hands and Kohli got a reprieve.
