The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a Preliminary Enquiry in connection with alleged irregularities in the construction and renovation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s new official residence in Civil Lines.

On Tuesday, the CBI sent a letter to the Delhi government's PWD department, asking it to provide all documents related to the work at the CM’s residence, including recommendation, approval and request from the “client” to execute “work of super specification” such as modular kitchen, marble flooring and ornamental work.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took a dig at the BJP on Wednesday, stating that whenever they come to power, they shut down schemes implemented by the Congress government.  He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should guarantee that the Congress government's schemes will not be discontinued if the BJP comes to power in the state.

Addressing a public function in Jaipur, he further stated that PM Modi can campaign in Rajasthan only if he promises not to discontinue any current schemes.

Altogether 45 students were injured in Manipur's Imphal Valley on Tuesday as the police fired tear gas shells and baton-charged a mob protesting against the killing of two youths who were allegedly kidnapped in July, officials said. All schools in the state will be closed till Friday in view of the prevailing situation. The students of Imphal-based schools and colleges brought out the protest rallies hours after photos of the bodies of the two youths went viral on social media, demanding arrest of those involved in the killing.

Wishes poured in from leaders across party lines for former prime minister Manmohan Singh as he turned 91 today.

Greeting his predecessor on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Birthday wishes to former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. I pray for his long life and good health."

Singh, who served as the country's prime minister from 2004-2014, is widely acknowledged as an architect of economic reforms in the country.
