#India-Germany: PM Modi Discusses Strategic Ties, Global Challenges With German Chancellor Scholz

In their first meeting in Berlin since German Chancellor Olaf Scholz assumed office in December last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s discussions with the German leader covered “key areas of bilateral cooperation under the overall strategic partnership as well as regional and global developments,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Monday.

Modi and Scholz held a bilateral meeting, just before the sixth round of the biennial Inter-Governmental Consultations between India and Germany.

The ministry said the prime minister was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour and received by Chancellor Scholz at the Federal Chancellery.

#SeditionLaw: Centre Seeks More Time From SC To Respond To Petitions Challenging Constitutional Validity

The Centre sought more time from the Supreme Court to submit its written response to petitions challenging the constitutional validity of section 124A of the Indian Penal Code dealing with the offence of sedition.

In an application filed before the court, the Centre said that while the draft of the affidavit is ready, it is still awaiting confirmation from the competent authority.

The bench was considering two writ petitions filed by former retired army official S G Vombatkere and the Editors Guild of India.

Day after a mega rally in Aurangabad, the city police said that it will investigate and press charges against MNS chief Raj Thackeray for his speech during the event.

According to Aurangabad Police sources, the entire meeting and Thackeray’s speech during the rally were recorded from multiple locations. They added that after the investigation, the cops are likely to book Raj Thackeray as multiple violations have been found.

The city police has also been asked to submit a report on the public meeting to Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil.
