New Delhi: Mumbai Indians have become the first team to qualify for the Play-offs in the ongoing IPL cricket tournament. In a one-sided match in New Delhi last night, they beat Delhi Daredevils by 146 runs which was the highest victory margin by runs for any team in the IPL history.
Put in to bat, Mumbai Indians put on board a massive 212 for three. The West Indies duo of Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard played enthralling knocks. While Simmons smashed 66 off 43 balls, Pollard hit an unbeaten 35-ball 63.
Mumbai now have nine wins from 11 games with 18 points and are well on course to top the points table. For Delhi, it was a seventh loss in 11 matches, virtually ending their hopes of sealing a play-off spot.
In another match yesterday, Rising Pune Supergiant beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs at Hyderabad. Chasing a victory target of 149 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad could score only 136 for 9 in the stipulated overs. Sent in to bat, Pune Supergiant had scored 148 for 8 in their 20 overs.
