New Delhi:The government has reduced the GST rate on fertilisers from 12 per cent to 5 per cent. The decision was taken by GST Council at its meeting in New Delhi on Friday which was chaired by Finance Minister ArunJaitley. 
Briefing media after the meeting, Jaitley said, the government has received several representations for reducing the tax rate on fertlisers. He said, it was felt that the previous rate could have overburdened farmers. 

Besides, the rate on some exclusive parts of tractors have also been slashed to 18 per cent. The Council also approved some additional set of rules regarding GST.
