New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the CBSE to declare the results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 for admission to MBBS and BDS courses for academic year 2017.

The results of a national examination will decide the fate of around 12 lakh students seeking to join medical and dental colleges across the country.

The apex court stayed a May 24 interim order of the Madras High Court which had restrained the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from publishing the results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) of 2017.

The Madras High Court on May 24 granted interim stay on the publication of NEET results on a batch of petitions. The petitioners alleged that the question papers were not uniform, especially the ones in English and in Tamil and demanded cancellation of the examination.

The date of the declaration will be however be fixed by the CBSE. The Supreme Court also directed all High Courts not to entertain petitions on NEET 2017.

The bench also requested all the High Courts not to entertain any petitions in the matters relating to the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) examination 2017.
