
Calling terrorism a challenge to the humanity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed that India and Spain should work together to deal with this emerging global challenge. He said both the countries have witnessed the menace of terrorism.
Addressing the media jointly with the President of Government of Spain Mariano Rajoy in Madrid, he said the two countries can cooperate in several areas including infrastructure.
The Prime Minister said, New Delhi and Madrid must have closer economic ties. India is in favour of making ties with Spain even more productive in the coming years. He invited Spain to invest in India in sectors like Smart City, railways among others.
Meanwhile, India and Spain have signed seven agreements. The key areas in which the pacts were inked are cyber security, renewable energy, technical cooperation in civil aviation, visa waiver for diplomatic passport holders.
The other MoUs are between Foreign Service Institute and Diplomatic Academy of Spain and others for transfer of sentenced persons and cooperation in organ transplantation.
Modi also called on King of Spain Felipe VI at Palacio de la Zarzuela. He will be holding meeting with top Spanish Chief Executive Officers of the Spanish Industry to seek their participation in Make in India initiative.
