Jaitley to chair 17th GST council meet on Sunday

New Delhi:Union Finance Minister ArunJaitley will chair the 17th meeting of the GST Council in New Delhi on Sunday. The one-day meeting will be attended by the Finance Ministers of different States and Union Territories. Main agenda items of the meeting include confirmation of the minutes of the 16th GST Council meeting, approval of draft GST Rules and related Forms for advance ruling, assessment and audit and others.

Rains bring down mercury several notches in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi:The residents of the national Capital region woke up on Saturday to pleasant morning as pre-Monsoon rain showers brought down the mercury by several notches. The rain brought respite from the hot and humid conditions. MeT Department has predicted generally cloudy sky with possibility of thunderstorm over the weekend. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 33 degrees.

Delhi Jeweller Foreign Assets Attached By ED In Panama Leak Case

New Delhi:The Enforcement Directorate has attached foreign assets worth of Rsseven crore of a Delhi-based jeweller in connection with its probe into foreign exchange violation in the Panama Papers leak case. According to media reports, the business entity was identified by the ED as Mehrasons Jewellers. 

The agency said it is the first instance of seizure of foreign assets after the Foreign Exchange Management Act was amended recently and the ED was empowered to take action in cases where illegal assets are stashed abroad.

Kailash-Mansarovar Pilgrims To Leave Gangtok Today For Nathala Pass

New Delhi:The first batch of Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims through Nathula pass for this year will be flagged off from Gangtok on Friday. This group of 48 pilgrims will continue its onward Journey in a bus through Nathula pass at height of about 14000 feet and reach China border on June 20.
The Mansarovaryatri after spending two nights each at 15th Mile and Sherethang area will reach Nathula in four days.The Chinese authority will take travel and other responsibility of these pilgrims soon after they cross Nathula border.

EU Parliament Passes Resolution To Censure Use Of Military Courts In Pakistan

New Delhi:Indian efforts to corner Pakistan on the issue of death sentence to former Navy official KulbhushanJadhav has received a shot in the arm as European Union Parliament has passed a resolution saying that the use of military courts in Pakistan was deplorable. It said that the human rights record of the nation was dismal.
The resolution was passed months after Pakistan sentenced Indian national KulbhushanJadhav to death by an Army court. India has challenged the sentence at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) at The Hague.
