New Delhi: Finance Minister ArunJaitley, who also has the charge of the Defence Ministry, has said the work in either of the two ministries was not suffering due to his dual responsibility. 

Asked about handling both ministries at a time when a lot is happening on both finance and defence fronts, the Minister said: "I don't think these are permanent arrangements. Your question is good but it is addressed to the wrong man.

New Delhi:The KailashMansarovaryatra through Nathu La in Sikkim has been cancelled.

The decision comes in the wake of the face-off between Indian and Chinese troops over a disputed area along the Sino-Indian border.
The move will come as a disappointment to the 800 devotees hoping to visit the high altitude area, believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva, following an arduous trek along the Nathu La route.

Modi bats for grand statue of Buddha in Gujarat

New Delhi:Prime Minister NarendraModi has said he aspires to build a grand monument of Lord Buddha in Gujarat's Aravalli district where Buddhist relics were found during an excavation. 
Addressing a gathering in Modasa city on the second day of his visit to Gujarat, Modi, dressed in a traditional tribal attire, said the recent excavations in Aravalli have established that the Buddha was revered in the western belt of India as well.

Venkaiah Requests Opposition To Rise Abaove Politics, Join GST Function

New Delhi: Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu has advised political parties not to politicise GST, saying the country was boundd to benefit hugely from the tax initiative in the long run. 

"The long-term effects of the GST will be highly beneficial for the country's economy but it may have initial, short-term negative effects on, inflation and the GDP," Naidu said in Dehradun.
