Infosys Says Search For Next CEO Progressing Well

New Delhi: India's second largest IT company Infosys has said its search for the next Chief Executive Officer is "progressing well".

The Bengaluru-based company has set a deadline of March 2018 to fill the top vacancy following the abrupt resignation of former CEO Vishal Sikka in August after a spate of allegations pertaining to governance issues by co-founder N R Narayana Murthy.

Rajnath Says India Culturally Dominated China For Over 2,000 Years

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has asserted that India  "culturally controlled and dominated" China for over 2,000 years pitching for using tourism to increase India's global influence.

He said that it is tourism that could make India a superpower at the finale of Paryatan Parv, a nationwide tourism festival organised by the Tourism Ministry.

Hu Shih, who was the vice-chancellor of Peking University during the Chinese Revolution, "has written that India has culturally controlled and dominated China for more than 2,000 years without sending a single soldier. That is the effect of India", the minister said.

JNU Teachers' Body Holds 'Public Inquiry' Against VC

New Delhi: The JNU teachers' association has held a "public inquiry" against Vice Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar and a five-member jury unanimously found him "guilty" of violating statutory provisions and academic norms.

The jury recommended an inquiry by the President of India - the ex-officio Visitor to JNU - against Kumar.

"The jury held him prima facie guilty and unfit to be the VC of JNU. We recommend a Visitorial Enquiry into the charges and his removal from the office of VC," the jury said.

RJD To Hold Anti-Demonetisation Rallies Across Bihar

New Delhi: RJD will hold rallies across Bihar on November 8, the day when demonitisation was announced a year ago, to attack the Narendra Modi government for taking the arbitrary step of scrapping high value old currency notes.  

"At our November 8 rallies, we will ask the BJP what the common people gained by the arbitrary step of invalidating Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes", RJD Chief Lalu Prasad said. 

"The note ban wreaked havoc on small traders. Millions of people were forced to stand for hours in queues outside banks to get their old notes exchanged. The country's economy is in tatters as a result of this decision," he added.

Adityanath Says Immense Potential For Tourism In Bundelkhand

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that there was immense potential for tourism in the Bundelkhand region.

Speaking at a public meeting in Chitrakoot, he also promised that Chitrakoot would be linked to a highway and observed that the district was extremely important from cultural and security point of view, and a work plan should be made for its planned development.

"To attract tourists, Kalinjar Fort (in Banda district) and Rani Lakshmibai's Fort in Jhansi will be developed. The state government will extend its full support and also seek support from the Centre," he said.
