Sidda Threatens To File Defamation Suits Against PM, Shah, Yeddy

New Delhi: For the first time the Prime Minister is served a legal notice when Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah sent a legal notice threatening to file a Rs 100-crore defamation suit against Prime Minister NarendraModi, BJP president Amit Shah and the party’s chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa. Siddaramaiah demands publicly apology from them for allegedly making false and defamatory statements against him.

The notice comes days ahead of the May 12 assembly elections in the state that are seeing a close and bitter contest between the Congress and BJP.The notice, drafted by lawyer and Congress’s member of legislative council VS Ugrappa, accused the BJP of having published allegedly defamatory advertisements in media outlets. It also added that Modi made several allegedly defamatory against Siddaramaiah in his election campaign. The notice referred to Modi’s statement that the state government was “a 10% commission government”.

BJP Accuses Siddaramaiah Of Receiving Gifts From Fugitive Eswaran

New Delhi:The BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) on Sunday leveled fresh allegations against Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, saying that the he had attended the 2013 World Economic Forum meeting in China and received a costly gift from ‘declared absconder’ Vijay Eswaran.

Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, BJP national spokesperson SambitPatra said that Siddaramaiah met Eswaran when he went to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in China in 2013 and invited him to invest in Karnataka.

The attack comes in the wake of the recent allegations levelled by the Congress on Prime Minister NarendraModi of meeting PNB Fraud accused NiravModi during World Economic Forum 2018 in Davos.

Amid Tension AMU Examinations Postponed Till May 12

New Delhi:Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Sunday postponed all the examinations for the 2017-18 academic sessions amid prevailing tension in the university over display of Mohammad Ali Jinnah's potrait in students' union hall. Statement issued by the AMU's spokesperson said that examinations of the 2017-18 sessions will now commence on May 12 with no further postponements.

The protest by students of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) continued on its fourth day, with agitating students demanding the arrest of Hindu JagaranManch (HJM) activists who allegedly forcibly entered the university, vandalised its property, and breached the security of visiting former Vice President of India Hamid Ansari.

ISRO Develops Atomic Clock To Be Used In Navigation Satellites

\New Delhi:Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has developed an atomic clock that will be used in navigation satellites to measure precise location data. This is a very significant development as far as space research is concerned. The space agency currently imports atomic clocks from European aerospace manufacturer Astrium for its navigation satellites.

TapanMisra, director of Ahmedabad-based Space Applications Centre (SAC), said, “SAC has developed an indigenous atomic clock and this clock is currently undergoing a series of qualification tests. Once it successfully clears all tests, the desi atomic clock will be used in an experimental navigation satellite to test its accuracy and durability in space.”

Avoid Offering Namaz At Public Places, asks Haryana Chief Minister

New Delhi:Haryana chief minister ManoharLalKhattar on Sunday said that namazcongregations should be restricted to mosques, eidgahs or private places. However, he asserted the government would ensure that law and order was maintained.There have been alleged disruptions to namaz by certain gropus at various locations in Gurgaon.

Right-wing outfits have been trying to "disrupt" Friday prayers in Gurgaon over the last two weeks alleging that some people were trying to grab land.
