New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dubbed Congress president Rahul Gandhi a “tape recorder of lies”. He said that his party’s fortunes would go down as swiftly as he resorts to “falsehoods” to target the Narendra Modi government.

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s media head and Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni accused Gandhi of starting “bad conventions” of targeting his rivals with lies on a daily basis. “His lies are exposed all the time. His charge against the government over the financial support to IL&FS was exposed within a few hours yesterday. But he believes in speaking from the same script everyday and uttering one lie or another but people in India are wise and can see through it,” he said.

New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has invited Nobel Prize winner and social activist Kailash Satyarthi to be the chief guest at the Vijayadashmi programme to mark its foundation day at its headquarters in Nagpur on October 18.

According to the two functionaries, the Noble prize winner, whose organisation rescues children from illegal labour and trafficking would attend the function where RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled to make a speech. The event is attended by Sangh cadre as well as senior ministers in the BJP, which is the political offshoot of the RSS.

Satyrathi who is currently abroad, could not be reached for a comment.

New Delhi: A Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board official said that sixty one per cent of Ganga water samples collected from 15 districts of Uttar Pradesh failed to pass a quality test. They were marked as unsatisfactory by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB).

The results of the 31 samples of Ganga water out of which 19 failed to pass the quality test underlines the uphill struggle that the National Mission for Clean Ganga — India’s most ambitious attempt to clean the country’s holiest river — faces.
