New Delhi: In a cleanliness drive initiated by ONGC & hosted by Sundeep Chadha, Pooja Chadha and Smriti Gupta founders of SWAWLAMBAN, at The Second Innings – old age home, the city experienced the need and importance of a clean environment.
The Shramdaan, under the banner Swachhta Hi Sewa, was organised on 2nd October 2018, the 150th birth anniversary of Father of our Nation – Mahatama Gandhi.
The following guests were present to honour our precious Senior Citizens at the event. They are – Mr. Manish Agarwal, BJP councillor Vasant Vihar (Delhi), Mr. Azad Singh President, Distt. Mehrauli, BJP Delhi Pradesh, Mr. Anil Sharma, Ex. MLA BJP, Brig. Jagmohan Verma, Mrs. Shashi Prasad (DGM ONGC), Mr. Ajay Ratra (Indian former cricketer).
Sundeep & Smriti, Founders of SWAWLAMBAN said “There is an urge to do something meaningful for this cause as we have experienced the grave need of a cleaner environment for generations to come in the course of doing our social service works.
“We as humans have not only neglected our natural resources but also our seniors who are a precious treasure long forgotten. What best day to start a movement which will ensure a green & pure planet under the guidance of our elders.” commented Sundeep Chadha.
According to Smriti Gupta, “it’s our duty and responsibility to leave planet Earth in a better state when compared to what we inherited, for our future generations. She also added that we Indians are known to value relations be it with elders or trees.”
Mr Manish Agarwal mentioned in his address that being with the senior citizens on this special day has made him nostalgic because he felt that there is a strong need of care and concern for them, which is lacking in our society. He lso wished all the best to Swawlamban and appreciated the steps taken by ONGC.
Comparing the senior citizens as playing their second innings, former cricketer Mr Ajay Ratra was all praises for the efforts and pain taken by the NGO. He was also of the opinion that the desire to live and right to clean environment is the winning formula.
