New Delhi: In Uttar Pradesh, bye-polls were held on Sunday in Phulpur and Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seats peacefully.

Gorakhpur recorded around 43 % voting and Phulpur above 375. No untoward incident was reported from any area.

Voters turn out in rural areas was better in comparison to Voters turn out in urban areas.

Large number of people complained about missing of their names from voters list and not distribution of voters slip in several areas.

Polling was also disrupted at few polling booths due to technical snags developed in Electronic Voting Machines during early hours.

Later on they were either rectified or replaced. Above 4200 polling booths were set up for about 40 Lakhs electorates in both the constituencies. A total of 32 candidates including three women are in contest.

Elaborate security arrangements were in place. Voting process was webcast from about 100 critical and vulnerable polling stations and all such polling stations are manned by the Central Para Military Forces. Counting of votes will be held on Wednesday.
