
Noida: China's state-owned rolling stock manufacturer, CRRC Nanjing Corporation Limited on Thursday started supply of coaches of metro rail for 29 Km long elevated metro corridor between twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida. It dispatched the first train for India and which is expected to reach Gujarat port in mid of December this year.
Sending off metro cars for the corridor is running behind the schedule as the rolling stock manufacturer was expected to finish the supply of coaches by May this year. But it started dispatching them for cities only on November 2.
In March 2016, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, the agency which has been extending technical support for development of metro corridor, had inked a MoU with the manufacturer for supply 76 coaches which are required to cater to the demand of passengers commuting between these two cities daily.
Alok Tandon, managing director of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) and chief executive officer of Noida, informed that first train was being transported by water ways. It is expected that the train will reach Gujarat port in mid of December, 2017, from it will be brought to metro yard of NMRC.
The development of Metro corridor is being carried out in full swing and NMRC is planning to conduct trial on the route in April next year. Starting this corridor will benefit thousands of commuters from these cities.
