The Karnataka Congress discipline committee chairman Rahman Khan has decided to issue show-cause notice to MLAs who said Siddaramaiah would be the next chief minister's face of the Congress.

"Many MLAs have made statements which are not needed now as the [Karnataka Assembly] elections are in two years. We will issue a notice to them and ask them to explain their remarks," said Rahman Khan.

On Sunday, the committee will meet virtually and discuss who to send the show cause notice. Till now, MLAs Ramappa, Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, Bheema Naik and Zameer Ahmed Khan have spoken about the next CM candidate.

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah asked everyone not to make comments on him being the next Karnataka CM's face.

"I have never said I'll be the next chief minister. I don't want to react to these comments. I appeal to all of them to not make such comments henceforth."

The Karnataka Assembly election will take place in 2023.
