Train services suspended in South Kashmir following prevailing tension

New Delhi: Following tense situation prevailing in Kashmir Valley the train services in the area has been suspended. Anantnag and adjoining areas in south Kashmir were reported tense after the gunning down of two terrorist following encounter between holed up terrorists and security forces in Arwani village of Bijbehara in Anantnag district. Police said the body of a terrorist has been recovered from debris in Arwani village and his identity was being ascertained.

Two civilian youths are also reported to have been killed leading to tension in the area.Train services between Srinagar and Banihal via Pulwama, Anantnag and Qazigund have been suspended. However, train service on Srinagar-Badgam in the central Kashmir to Baramulla in northern Kashmir was running as per schedule.

In a related incident six policemen, including a Sub-Inspector, were killed in Anantnag district of South Kashmir after terrorists ambushed a police party on Friday. Police said, besides the fatalities, some other policemen sustained serious bullet injuries and were rushed to nearby hospital. Army has been rushed to the spot and was combing the area.
