A 45-year-old man was shot dead and four women of his family were gang raped in Jewar in Uttar Pradesh, around 68 km from Delhi, in the wee hours of Thursday when they were travelling in a car. 
The family, which was on its way to Bulandshahr to visit a relative in hospital, was waylaid in the middle of the highway at Jewar, near Noida, around 1 am by six armed men after their car hit a metal object.

As some occupants of car stepped out to check out, the culprits surrounded the car, dragged out the women and raped them before looting the family. 
The deceased was killed in a bid to save the women.
