#MoosewalaMurderCase: Punjab Police Make First Arrest, Accused Sent To 5-Day Police Custody

The Punjab Police Tuesday made the first arrest in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case and secured five days’ remand of the accused, who was identified as Manpreet Singh Bhau.

Bhau was produced before a Mansa court and sent to police custody for five days.

The arrest came within 24 hours of the murder that had shocked the whole music world. Manpreet was among the six persons detained from Dehradun on Monday.

#GyanvapiRow: No BJP Resolution on Kashi and Mathura; Courts, Constitution To Decide, Says Party Chief Nadda

The BJP on Monday made its first official statement on the Kashi Vishwanath Temple-Gyanvapi mosque dispute, saying such issues would be settled in accordance with the Constitution and decided by the courts. BJP president J P Nadda said the party has always spoken about cultural development, and would follow the order of the court in letter and spirit.

“We have always been talking about cultural development. But these issues are dealt with in accordance with the Constitution and the ruling of courts. So, the Court and Constitution will decide on it and the BJP will follow it in letter and spirit,” Nadda told reporters on the eve of the eighth anniversary of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

PM Modi said the average annual growth rate of Indian unicorns is more than that of the U.S., the U.K.

Noting that the number of unicorns in India has reached the 100-mark, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 29 said that even during the COVID pandemic, India's startups continued to create wealth and value.

In his monthly 'Mann ki Baat' radio broadcast, he said that on the fifth of this month the number of unicorns in India reached the 100-mark.

"One unicorn means a startup of at least ₹7,500 crore turnover. The total valuation of these unicorns is $330 billion, that is over ₹25 lakh crore. Surely it is a matter of immense pride for every Indian," the Prime Minister said.

#ArmyMishap: Seven Soldiers Killed, 19 Injured As Vehicle Falls Into Ladakh River

Seven Army soldiers died and 19 were injured, some of them seriously, after their vehicle skidded off a road and plunged into the Shyok river in Ladakh on Friday. The mishap happened in Turtuk sector in the morning, with the vehicle falling from a height of around 50-60 feet, officials said.

The troops were initially taken to a field hospital at Partapur, with the Army dispatching surgical teams from Leh. Seven of them were declared dead.

In the evening, the Air Force moved the injured soldiers to the Army Command Hospital at Chandimandir in Haryana’s Panchkula district, said an Army statement.

Speculations are rife in Congress over Rajya Sabha nominations, with the list led by veteran leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and a couple of other members of the dissident G-23 group, who had spearheaded an attempt to bring in fundamental structural changes in the party.

Congress managers said that some sitting members are likely to be re-nominated from states like Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, but it is Rajasthan that is being watched for accommodations from outside. It's here that Azad is being considered, an All India Congress Committee (AICC) manager said. Maharashtra too has a vacancy for a party MP.
