Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said the AAP government would soon move Supreme Court to get municipal polls conducted on time. He said there was talk that the Centre might dissolve the Delhi Assembly and convert the city into a full Union Territory and added that any such "BJP ploy" would fail in face of stiff resistance from residents.

During a discussion on an alleged BJP conspiracy to delay municipal polls on the second day of the special session of the Delhi Assembly, Kejriwal said the saffron party was "terrified" of contesting elections against AAP.

#India-Russia: PM Modi Discusses Ukraine With Putin in Phone Call, Reiterates India's Position on Dialogue, Diplomacy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the telephone conversation, both leaders discussed the situation in Ukraine where PM Modi reiterated India's position on "dialogue" and "diplomacy".

"In the context of the ongoing situation in Ukraine, the Prime Minister reiterated India's long-standing position in favour of dialogue and diplomacy," said a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Friday.

Putin briefed Modi on the Russia-Ukraine war situation at the behest of the latter even as the two sides expressed "mutual intention for the comprehensive strengthening of the special and privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India."

#Maharashtra: Shinde as CM Begins With 'Development Focus'; Special Assembly Session from July 2 May See Trust Vote

A two-day special session of the Maharashtra legislature will be held from July 2. The decision was taken in the first cabinet meeting held after Eknath Shinde took over as the new chief minister of the state, officials said. On the first day of the session, election to the post of Assembly speaker will be held, they added.

A trust vote was also likely to be held during the session, sources said, though there was no official communication in this regard. Shinde told officials in the meeting that development projects need to be expedited. Elected representatives and the administration need to work hand in hand, he was quoted as saying in the official statement.
