#PM Modi Likely To Inaugurate Central Vista Avenue, Unveil Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's Statue on Sept 8

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the revamped Central Vista Avenue and also unveil the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on September 8, IANS reported said on Friday. The Netaji statue would be installed in the canopy behind India Gate.

The revamped Central Vista Avenue is a part of the Modi government's ambitious Central Vista redevelopment project.

The bhoomi poojan ceremony of the Central Vista Avenue was performed by Union Housing & Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri at India Gate on February 4, 2021.

The Central Vista Avenue is a 3 km long stretch starting from North and South Block to India Gate, that includes the Rajpath, its adjoining lawns and canals, rows of tree, Vijay Chowk and the India Gate plaza is a 3 km long stretch.

The government has decided to refurbish and improve the Central Vista Avenue by refurbishing, strengthening and restoring the avenue’s landscape and tree cover, providing amenities that make it comfortable for civic users and tourists to use and. The Centre had to make it more pedestrian friendly and easier for traffic to negotiate. The design also provides space and facilities for vendors, ensures that arrangements for national events cause minimal disruption, and ensures integrity and continuity of the Vista’s original layout, its geometries and its architectural character.

The plan includes to increase the green cover from 3,50,000 sqm to about 3,90,000 sqm. Proper public amenities with toilets, drinking water facilities and vending area will be provided at 10 locations for visitors and tourists.
