Prime Minister Narendra Modi will shortly chair third high-level meeting with his cabinet colleagues in the matter of less than 24 hours. Prime Minister Modi said that the entire government machinery is working round the clock to ensure that all Indians there are safe and secure.

The development comes hours after Ministry of External Affairs informed that four Union Ministers will remain stationed in Ukrainian neighbourhood to oversee Operation Ganga.

Prime Minister pointed that the visit of four senior ministers as his Special Envoys to various nations will energize the evacuation efforts. "It is reflective of the priority the Government attaches to this matter," Arindam Bagchi, Spokersperson, Ministry of External Affairs, said.

India to evacuate citizens of neighbouring countries, other developing nations: MEA

MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that guided by India’s motto of the world being one family, PM stated that India will help people from neighbouring countries and developing countries who are stranded in Ukraine and may seek assistance.

To evacaute the stranded Indians, mostly medical students, India is executing Operation Ganga in the war-hit Ukraine. As per Ministry of External Affairs, nearly 7,000 Indians have left Ukraine of which close to 1300 have been evacuated by Union Government in last few days.

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led high level meeting on Ukraine-Russia conflict had lasted over two hours. The Prime Minister ensured safety and evacuation of Indian students as top priority. Further cooperation with neighbouring countries of Ukraine to expedite evacuation will be enhanced, sources said.

The Union government has launched Operation Ganga to bring back stranded students and Indian citizens from the conflict-torn Ukraine.
