Maidaan Trailer Review: Ajay Devgn Is Wine That Gets Better With Age, Film Should Shine

332

Maidaan, produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios and directed by Amit Sharma, is something that will make the adrenalin flow. Based on the golden era of Indian football (1952–1962), it stars Ajay Devgn as football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, along with Priyamani, Rudranil Ghosh, and Gajraj Rao. As evident from the trailer, which we at Zoom were shown in Boney's office last night, Ajay is ageing like wine that gets better with the passing of each day.

You can sense the despair in his eyes when his team is not making favourable headway. You can sense the pride on his face when they are on a high. An actor who emotes with eyes and facial expressions is an asset and a trump card. And Priyamani looks like the perfect foil to Ajay, who is clearly a man on a mission.

The canvas on which Maidaan has been mounted is huge. Clearly, Boney has made no compromises in setting it up or its execution. All this adds to the inspiring story and Devgn and Priyamani's acting chops.

Maidaan also stars Gajraj Rao in an important role, and the film's screenplay and dialogues have been written by Saiwyn Quadras and Ritesh Shah. A film definitely for the big screens.
