New Delhi: Scientists are developing a new system that can predict if a car driver is about to have a heart attack. This new system would help avoid road accidents due to an unexpected cardiac event.

Experiencing a heart attack behind the wheel can be dangerous – not only for the driver, but also for passengers and fellow motorists.

In the hope of reducing this risk, Toyota is developing new technology that can predict such an event and bring the car to a safe stop. Toyota is working alongside Michigan Medicine to develop the technology.

A 2011 study based on the World Health Organization's World Mental Health Survey Initiative reported that India has the highest rate of major depression in the world. What is of greater concern is that its incidence seems to be on the rise affecting people of all ages from teens to aged individuals; its affects people from all economic backgrounds from individuals striving for a decent meal to those leading a very lavish and glamorous lifestyle. What is of still greater concern is that depressed individuals sometimes take an extreme step of even ending their lives in this emotionally fragile state. The rise in suicides amongst teens and young adults in India has highlighted that this disorder needs to be taken seriously.

New Delhi: IMA is observing this year as centenary year of medical events in India. The 1st Medical Conference was organized in 1917. In the last 100 years, the contribution of IMA cannot be ignored, may it be eradication of diseases like Polio or achievement of Millennium Development Goals.  But over the past few years the medical profession is facing a lot of problems which, if not looked into this moment, will harm India’s commitment of achieving sustainable development goal.

World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed the first three cases of Zika virus in India, as having been reported from Ahmedabad. This includes a pregnant lady tested in January. All the three cases are from the Bapunagar area of the Ahmedabad city. 
Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry also reported three confirmed cases of Zika virus disease in Bapunagar area on it's website.

India and Germany will collaborate in the field of alternative medicine, the government said on Wednesday. The two nation have worked together on treating osteoarthritis with ayurveda.
The collaboration is bound to enhance employment in the country.
An official statement read: "The Union Cabinet has approved a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) between Germany and India regarding cooperation in the sector of alternative medicine."
