Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the country’s longest bridge – the Dhola-Sadia Bridge in Assam today. He named the bridge after legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika.
This three-lane 9.15 km bridge, built over river Brahmaputra, links Dhola to Sadia. It will reduce the distance from Rupai on NH-37 in Assam to Meka-Roing on NH-52 in Arunachal Pradesh by 165 km.

Former Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab KPS Gill died in a hospital in Delhi today. He was 82.
Gill, who is credited for rooting out militancy in Punjab, breathed his last at 2:55 pm at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. He was suffering from end stage kidney failure and significant ischemic heart disease.
