New Delhi: Former Justice of India, Justice PN Bhagwati, passed away on the night of June 16 at the age of 95. 
Prafulchandra Natwarlal Bhagwati or as he was popularly known PN Bhagwati was the 17th Chief Justice of India and was India’s chief justice from July 1985 to December 1986. 
Justice PN Bhagwati is known to give voice to the voiceless by introducing public interest litigation (PIL) along with his brother justice VR Krishna Iyer.  This step was seen as a milestone in the Indian Judicial System.

Switzerland ratifies agreement to share black money information with India

New Delhi: Switzerland has ratified automatic exchange of information(AEOI) sharing with India and 40 other countries to facilitate immediate sharing of details about suspected black money. It, however, sought strict adherence to confidentiality and data security laws. The Swiss Federal Council, the country's top governing body, in a statement said that the protocol will be implemented next year and the first set of information is planned in 2019.

India submits fresh papers to UK court in Vijay Mallya extradition case

New Delhi:Given the snub from the British court, New Delhi is attempting to speed up the process of extradition of businessman Vijay Mallya. India has given a fresh set of papers to the UK in the extradition case, External Affairs Ministry spokesman GopalBaglay told reporters on Friday. He said in New Delhi that a fresh set of relevant papers was given to the British High Commission last week and sent soft copies, electronically, to Indian mission.

Hearing at ICJ in KulbhushanJadhav case not before beginning of next year

New Delhi: The hearing in the KulbhushanJadhav case may well begin next year as the International Court of Justice has asked India to submit memorials in the matter by September 13, while Pakistan has been given time till December 13 to file counter memorials.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson GopalBaglay told reporters on Friday that contrary to Pak claim India's request for early hearing has been entertained and procedure laid down in the matter. He said the June 8 sitting of the Court was not for hearing but to decide procedural issues.

Salem convicted for transporting weapons in 1993 Mumbai blast case

New Delhi: On Friday, a special Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act court convicted six out of the seven accused, including Abu Salem and Mustafa Dossa after 24 years later when the 12 blasts rocked the city killing 257 and leaving 713 grievously injured.

Key mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai blasts case Mustafa Dossa, extradited gangster Abu Salem along with Feroz Khan, Taher Merchant, RiyazSiddiqui, Karimulla Khan were convicted by a special TADA court in Mumbai.The court said that, “Mustafa Dossa, Abu Salem, Tahir Merchant and Firoz Khan were among the main conspirators of '93 blasts case.”
