GST rollout evokes mixed response from Bollywood

New Delhi: Bollywood celebrities like Anupam Kher and Riteish Deshmukh have welcomed the "new road" - Goods and Services Tax (GST), which is India's biggest tax reform since Independence. Whereas actors like Aditi Rao Hydari have trashed it.

The reform was rolled out past midnight on Friday in the precincts of the hallowed Central Hall of Parliament to usher in a new indirect tax regime.

Over 29000 pilgrims pay respects at Amarnath Cave

New Delhi: More than 29,000 pilgrims paid obeisance at the Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir in the first three days of the annual pilgrimage. The 40-day yatra began from the twin routes of Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district on June 29 amid tight security arrangements. On the third day of the pilgrimage yesterday, 14,953 pilgrims offered prayers at the cave shrine raising the total number to 29,182, an official spokesperson said.

Feroz Dar’s death avenged, LeT top terrorist gunned down in Anantnag

New Delhi: A top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Bashir Lashkari was killed in an encounter with security forces alongwith with another terrorist in Anantnag district on Saturday. They were involved in the killing of an SHO Feroz Dar and five other policemen in Achabal area of south Kashmir on June 16. Police said, Bashir Lakshari and three terrorists were trapped by security forces in village Brenti.

Case of sedition registered against Azam Khan for belittling Indian soldiers

New Delhi:FIRs have been registered under sedition charges against Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan over the controversial remarks he made against the Indian Army. Complaints have been lodged in Lucknow and Rampur districts. 
According to media reports quoting police sources, BJP leader Akash Kumar Saxena registered FIR in Civil Lines Police Station in Rampur against Khan for his alleged controversial statement against the Indian soldiers. He has attached press clippings with his complaints.
