Farmer’s suicides cannot end overnight, decrees Supreme Court

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has observed that the issue of rising farmers' suicide cannot be dealt with "overnight" and agreed with the government's request for a year to show effective results of its pro-farmer schemes like FasalBimaYojana. 

"We are of the view that the issue of farmers' suicide cannot be dealt with overnight. It is justified on behalf of the attorney general to seek time for effective results," a bench of Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice D Y Chandrachud said.
