Chinese authorities have assured Wednesday that they are "closer than ever" in their history to achieving "total reunification" with Taiwan, days after the end of the last Communist Party Congress in which the president, Xi Jinping, was given another five years in office.
"We are closer than ever in our history, and we are more confident and capable than ever, of achieving national rejuvenation," Taiwan Affairs Office spokesman Ma Xiaoguang has emphasized from Beijing.
In this sense, Ma assured that they are "closer than ever in history, as well as more confident and capable of achieving the complete reunification of the homeland", in response to questions about President Xi's loudly applauded words on Taiwan during his speech at that Congress.
