New Delhi: The government has approved a Rs 25,000-crore internal security scheme to boost up the law and order mechanism, modernise police forces and fight terrorism.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), headed by PM Narendra Modi, gave its approval for implementation of Modernisation of Police Forces (MPF) for 2017-18 to 2019-20.

New Delhi: Bangladesh police have arrested three Rohingya men and a Bangladeshi who were trying to smuggle 800,000 methamphetamine pills into the country from Myanmar.

The arrests have come amid Bangladesh’ continued struggles to grapple with a massive influx of Rohingya Muslims fleeing unrest in neighbouring Myanmar's Rakhine state.

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind has said greater tourism opportunities can help the country eradicating poverty.

Speaking after giving away National Tourism Awards for the year 2015-16 on the occasion of World Tourism Day in New Delhi on Wednesday, Mr Kovind said that tourism generates better employment opportunities and can also help improve economy of the country. 

President Kovind said there are immense opportunities in sports and adventure tourism. He called upon people who are part of tourism industry to do more efforts to improve tourism destinations in India.

New Delhi: Quota agitation leader Hardik Patel has filed an application in an Ahmedabad court seeking discharge in a sedition case.
He has been accused of inciting violence with the intention to dislodge the government after a rally addressed by him turned violent in October 2015.

New Delhi: JD(U) rebel MP Sharad Yadav has been sacked as the chairman of the parliamentary committee on industry following his party’s communication to the Rajya Sabha chairman.

Ram Chandra Prasad Singh, who was elected as the JD(U) parliamentary party leader in the Rajya Sabha in place of Yadav, replaces the former party chief as the head of the parliamentary committee, according to an official communication.
