Narayana Murthy's proposal for infra sector employees, ‘Must work 3 shifts'

Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy recently said the government needs to completely infrastructure projects on priority and insisted that the industry should operate in three shifts instead of one.

Murthy's comment came during a conversation with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath at the Bengaluru Tech Summit on Wednesday, while discussing the requirements for Bengaluru's development in the next 5-10 years.

As US cranks up pressure, India announces probe in Pannun case

Following allegations by the US of a foiled Indian plot to assassinate Sikh separatist and India-designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the Indian government said Wednesday it had constituted a high-level enquiry committee on November 18 to investigate the issue.

In its first reaction, on November 22, India had not revealed that there was a panel already probing information shared by US authorities about the plot and the announcement on Wednesday seemed designed to fend off pressure from Washington to act upon the questions it has formally raised with India about the issue.

Rat-hole miner on Uttarkashi rescue operation, 'If 1 dies to save 40 people...'

After the Uttarkashi tunnel rescue operation concluded on Tuesday evening, the team of rat-hole miners were hailed for working non-stop for 26 hours to manually remove the debris toward the end of the mission.

The rat-hole miners were able to dig over 10 metres (till the end) within 48 hours - something that the drilling machine had failed to do.

Speaking about the operation to rescue the 41 workers who had been trapped inside for 17 days, one of the rat-hole miners, Munna Qureshi, said that "saving people's lives is the biggest 'punya' (good deed) one could do in life".
