P Chidambaram heckled by party workers outside Calcutta High Court

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram was heckled by his own party workers as he reached the Calcutta High Court to fight a case against a party colleague - Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. Lawyers representing Congress state president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in a case against the Trinamool Congress-led state government were seen protesting and showing black flags to P Chidambaram.\

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had filed public interest litigation (PIL) against the Bengal government alleging corruption in the sale of the state government's stake in Metro Dairy to a private company, Keventers, in 2015. P Chidambaram was representing Keventers in this case.

Terrorists in Kashmir valley using weapons left by US in Afghanistan

Terrorists operating in the Kashmir valley have started using steel core bullets and Canadian night sights that were left behind by the American-led NATO alliance when it was forced to retreat from Afghanistan. US forces reportedly left behind weapons and equipment worth billions of dollars in Afghanistan.

Recently, it was found that some of the terrorists in the Kashmir valley used American armour piercing bullets in encounters with Indian security forces and were successful in breaching the bulletproof jackets of soldiers. Immediate measures are being taken to counter this threat, top government sources told India Today.

South Delhi Municipal Corporation to run encroachment drive from May 9 to 13

South Delhi Municipal Corporation asked the Delhi Police to deploy its police force to start the encroachment drive from May 9 to May 13.

The force is required to cover areas like Shaheen Bagh, Kalandi Kunj, Jasola, MG Road. The Delhi Police might take the help of paramilitary companies in the Shaheen Bagh area. Earlier, the authorities had to face obstacles to carry out the drive in the area.

A few days ago, in a letter to the SDMC, Delhi Police said due to the pre-engagement or preoccupation of the staff and personnel of the Sarita Vihar police station in other law-and-order or investigative duties, it was not possible to provide sufficient personnel to assist the SDMC staff in carrying out the anti-encroachment drive in ward number 101-S (Sarita Vihar).

Lieutenant General Baggavalli Somashekar Raju will take over as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff on May 1, 2022. An alumnus of Sainik School Bijapur and National Defence Academy, he was commissioned in the Jat Regiment on December 15, 1984.

Yogi Adityanath meets mother at ancestral village, touches feet for blessings

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met his mother Savitri Devi today at his ancestral village in Uttarakhand's Panchur and touched her feet, seeking her blessings. The chief minister also gifted a shawl to his mother, who was visibly emotional to meet her son.

The chief minister could not go home when his father died during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic in April 2020. "I had the ardent wish to get a glimpse of him at the final moment. However, following a sense of duty towards the state's 23 crore people during the COVID-19 pandemic, I could not do so," the chief minister had said in a statement.
