Even though it produces massive amounts of hazardous radioactive waste that are incredibly difficult to process and get rid of, nuclear power is considered a clean energy source, simply because it has zero carbon dioxide emissions. Now, a group of scientists have potentially come up with a solution to deal with nuclear wastes, that may very well change battery technology, as we know it today.

Back in 2016, a group of researchers, physicists and chemists at the University of Bristol, started working on what came to be known as radioactive diamond batteries. The invention that they came up with was presented as a betavoltaic device, which means that it’s powered by the beta decay of nuclear waste.

Monsoon progress may slow down after it hits Kerala, says IMD

Monsoon seems to have lost its steam before hitting the Indian mainland, top climate experts said on Tuesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecast the onset of monsoon over Kerala by around May 27, with a model error of plus or minus four days.

Though the onset over Kerala may be around the predicted date this year, the monsoon progress thereafter is likely to be sluggish for some days, an expert said. An IMD official said further progress of the monsoon may slow down after its onset over Kerala.

Punjab CM Mann sacks health minister Vijay Singla on corruption charges

It was a code word, “shukrana”, that led to Punjab health minister Vijay Singla being trapped for his alleged involvement in corruption cases, prompting chief minister Bhagwant Mann to sack him from his cabinet.

Sources said that the minister had allegedly sought commission from a Bathinda-based contractor for clearing a project meant for the health and family welfare department.

An officer in the department, according to sources, had approached the chief minister and informed him about a “deal”. The CM while promising to keep his identity hidden sought incontrovertible proof against the minister,

Indore: Court issues arrest warrant against Dr Radhika Bandi

The court has issued an arrest warrant against the owner of Greater Kailash Nursing Home, Dr Radhika Bandi in a case of fraud registered against her. The complainant had lent Rs 10 lakh to her 3 years ago but money was not returned and the cheque which she had given also bounced.

According to the victim Radheshyam Somani, 3 years ago his wife Vidya Somani used to go to the nursing home of Dr Radhika Bandi for her treatment. Dr Bandi was doing her treatment. During this both became friends and Dr Bandi borrowed Rs 10 lakhs from the complainant Vidya Somani. Due to friendship, for a long time the complainant did not ask for the money back from her. When the complainant Radheshyam asked for money back from Dr Bandi, she misbehaved and a complaint was lodged at Palasia police station.
