#10 BJP MPs Including 2 Ministers Resign From Lok Sabha After Assembly Poll Win

Ten Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MPs including two Union ministers who won the assembly elections in three states of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, resigned from the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, people familiar with the matter said.

The 10 members of Parliament submitted their resignation to the Lok Sabha speaker’s office after calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president JP Nadda. The party president accompanied them to the speaker’s office.

BJP MLAs walk out of Assembly over CM Siddaramaiah’s announcement on minority welfare funds

Karnataka BJP MLAs staged a walkout on Wednesday protesting against an announcement made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah outside the legislature about increasing the minority welfare funds from Rs 4,000 crore to Rs 10,000 crore in the coming years.

BJP MLAs alleged that Siddaramaiah had broken the tradition by making an announcement outside the Legislature when it was in session. The chief minister said at a convention in Hubballi on Monday that he would increase the allocation to the minority welfare department every year, adding that the government was looking to spend Rs 10,000 crore in the coming years.

Telangana's CM-elect Revanth Reddy meets Cong president Mallikarjun Kharge

Telangana's chief minister-elect Revanth Reddy met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge here on Wednesday, a day after he was elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party.

He later met Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi and former party chief Rahul Gandhi.

Reddy, who has been elected from the Kodangal Assembly seat, is slated to take oath as chief minister in Hyderabad on Thursday.

PM Modi hails Garba as 'celebration of life' after UNESCO's listing of dance form as 'Intangible Heritage'

Garba, the traditional dance form of western India's Gujarat which is also the home state of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been declared as an Intangible Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). 

 

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, UNESCO posted, "New inscription on the Intangible Heritage List: Garba of Gujarat, India. Congratulations!"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reacted to the development and hailed Garba as "a celebration of life".
