'Eknath Shinde was once offered CM position,' claims Aditya Thackeray

Amid the ongoing escalating rebellion in the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, Tourism Minister and CM's son Aditya Thackeray on Sunday claimed that leader of rebel MLAs Eknath Shinde was offered the Maharashtra Chief Minister position by Uddhav Thackeray. According to Aditya, Uddhav Thackeray offered the CM post to Shinde on May 20. "CM Uddhav Thackeray had asked Eknath Shinde to become CM if he wanted to, but at that time he did drama and now just a month later, he rebelled," said Aditya Thackeray. Over 40 MLAs of Maharashtra, including several Shiv Sena ministers, have been camping in an Assam hotel against Uddhav Thackray and MVA alliance.

Maharashtra political crisis: Until rebel MLAs don't merge with another party, disqualification applies, says Shiv Sena's lawyer

In a subtle warning to the Shiv Sena rebels headed by Eknath Shinde currently camping in Guwahati, the senior counsel of the party said that until the MLAs don't merge with another party, disqualification applies on them.

Adv Devdutta Kamat, Shiv Sena's Senior Counsel while talking to the media said, "The concept of 2-3rd (to surpass anti-defection law) is only applicable if there is a merger." "Till today there's no merger, they have voluntarily given up membership," he added.

Kamat further explained, "Visiting BJP-ruled states, meeting BJP leaders, and attempting to topple govt amounts to a violation by rebels."

Suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma failed to appear before Mumbai police on Saturday to record her statement in the case registered against her for making allegedly objectionable remarks against Prophet Mohammad during a television channel discussion. An official said an FIR was registered against Sharma at Pydhonie police station on May 28 and police had executed summons to her via email while a team from here had also visited Delhi to hand over a physical copy, an official said.

"As she did not turn up for the recording of the statement, we will decide on Monday on the further course of action," the official added.

Morena: Houses of tehsildar attackers bulldozed post ballot box looting bid

A day after an attempt to snatch the ballot box by attacking officials of district administration from a polling booth at Goonj Panchayat in Ambah block, police have registered an FIR against 59 people involved in the incident.

On Sunday, two bulldozers began demolishing the houses of these attackers. The demolition of houses of nine accused, who have been identified by the police, was carried out in the presence of heavy police force till the filing of report. The FIR includes names of Panchayat Secretary Kapil Sharma, Dilip Sharma, Harpal, Bhurai, Bhotu, Nehna Parmar, Pankaj, Kamlesh and Lokendra.

Assam floods: People take shelter on highways as houses remain inundated, over 45.34 lakh affected

With more than 5.03 lakh affected people due to floods, many people took shelter on embankments and highways as several areas under Assam`s Nagaon district continue to remain inundated. The flood situation in Assam`s Nagaon district is still grim as more than 5.03 lakh people in the district are still affected. Many areas under the Raha revenue circle in the Nagaon district are still under flood waters.

Nearly 1.42 lakh people of 155 villages under the Raha revenue circle have been affected by the current wave of floods.

In the Nagaon district, children are participating in preschool activities in the relief camp itself. 

"We`re making children participate in preschool activities in relief camp (Nagaon) itself, with morning prayers, physical exercises, drawings. Union Min Sarbananda Sonowal visited this camp earlier," NP Doley, Integrated Child Development Services supervisor told ANI.
