The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has decided to enroll an Indian-origin woman, Athira Preetha Rani, on its astronaut training programme. After Kalpana Chawala and Sunita Williams, Rani is set to become the third Indian-origin female astronaut to embark on a journey to space after having secured a position with the US space agency's programme.
24-year-old Rani has been selected by NASA for a training course and she will accompany NASA's crew to space after successfully completing her training.
