IAF to induct indigenous Light Combat Helicopters soon

Ahead of its annual day on October 8, the Indian Air Force is getting set to formally raise the first unit of the indigenous Light Combat Helicopters in Jodhpur.

While the IAF is still in the process of finalizing the number of LCHs to be acquired, the first unit will have ten helicopters. These helicopters are expected to replace the ageing Russian Mi-25 and Mi-35 attack helicopters. According to reports, with the induction of 22 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, one of the squadrons of the Russian helicopters has been replaced and the existing Mi-35 squadron is soon going to be sent for the overhaul for extending its life cycle.

Kolkata declared safest city in India; least number of cognisable offence

Kolkata has topped the list of cities with the least number of cognisable offences per lakh of its population, making the metropolis the safest city of India in 2021, according to the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report.

The city scored 103.4 per 1-lakh people in terms of the number of cognisable offences, marching ahead of Pune, which stood second (256.8) and third-ranked Hyderabad (259.9), the data showed.

NASA to make second attempt at debut moon rocket launch on Saturday

The 322-foot (98-meter) rocket remains on its pad at Kennedy Space Center, with an empty crew capsule on top. It's the most powerful rocket ever built by NASA.

The Space Launch System rocket, or SLS, will attempt to send the capsule around the moon and back. No one will be aboard, just three test dummies. If successful, it will be the first capsule to fly to the moon since NASA's Apollo program 50 years ago.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday proposed five national capitals, one for each zone, to end regional disparity in the country. The senior BJP leader, in a series of tweets, continued his tirade against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, with whom he has been engaged in a war of words on Twitter.

"Having been engaged in a dialogue with Delhi CM Shri @ArvindKejriwal, who's by now in habit of mocking at other states, I'm of the view that we should work on curing the disease of disparity, and not mock poor states. Can we have 5 Capitals of India, one in every zone?" Sarma tweeted.

Noida Twin Towers demolition: Nearby residents return; huge debris chunk damages ATS village wall

Many residents from buildings in adjoining areas of the now-demolished Supertech Twin Towers returned to their homes on Monday. A chunk of rubble from the Supertech Twin Towers demolition even fell in the ATS village compound. The huge chunk comprised of 3-storeys of the Supertech's Ceyan Tower. Apart from the debris in ATS village compound, windowpanes in a few apartments were cracked but there was no structural damage in ATS village or Emerald Court.

"There have been reports from four to five houses about cracks in window panes. Even if it is 10 such cases, it is a minor thing. No major damages in our society," UBS Teotia, president of Emerald Court residents group said to PTI.
