Ajit Pawar storms off NCP national executive meeting in Delhi

Maharashtra MLA Ajit Pawar left the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) meeting midway in front of veteran Sharad Pawar as the party re-elected the latter as its chief.

Sharad Pawar was re-elected unopposed during the national executive meeting on Saturday, September 10 in Delhi.

Ajit Pawar leaving the meeting sparked buzz about a possible disgruntlement in the NCP top brass.

During the programme, NCP leader Jayant Patil was given the opportunity to speak ahead of Ajit Pawar. When the turn came, Ajit Pawar got up and left the venue.

Akasa Air launches flights on Chennai-Bengaluru route

Akasa Air on Saturday commenced its operations on the Chennai-Bengaluru route making the state capital the fifth city on its network, the airliner said.

Besides launching two daily flights on the Chennai-Bengaluru sector, the airline also plans to launch services on the Chennai-Kochi with effect from September 26.

"Further expanding its operations from Chennai, the airline will commence one additional daily daily flight from September 15 on the Mumbai-Chennai route and will add an additional daily flight on the Bengaluru-Chennai route from September 26," a company statement said.

Rules issued for those wanting to pay respects to the Queen

People wanting to pay their final respects to Queen Elizabeth II as she lies in state at the Houses of Parliament in London need to be prepared for a long wait.

The government has published guidelines for people wishing to file past the late queen's closed coffin as it lies in state at the Palace of Westminster from 5 pm (1600 GMT) on Wednesday until 6:30 am (0530 GMT) on September 19. Thousands are expected to want to pay tribute to the only monarch that many in the United Kingdom have ever known.

The rules were made public a day after thousands of people lined roads and bridges Sunday as a hearse carried the queen's coffin across the Scottish countryside from her beloved Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh.

Nitin Gadkari wants skybuses for Bengaluru, tells officials to do feasibility study with experts

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday said the Centre would study introducing sky buses and building flyovers to decongest roads in Bengaluru.

"It is difficult to widen the existing roads in Bengaluru. So, we have taken two decisions. We will not acquire land but we will build three-deck or grade separators as was done in Chennai," Gadkari told reporters.

He has been here for the last two days attending a programme 'Manthan', a session on improving road infrastructure and mobility. Ministers and government officials of the Centre and the State attended the session.

BJP names Biplab Deb as Rajya Sabha candidate from Tripura

The Bharatiya Janata Party announced Biplab Deb as the party’s candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha bypolls from Tripura, the party announced on Friday.

The announcement came hours after former Tripura CM Deb was made Haryana state in charge by the saffron party. The former CM’s popularity had earlier helped BJP to clean sweep the northeastern state marking a thumping victory in 2018. The 2018 victory overtook the Left’s rule of 25 years in Tripura.

After taking oath as the 10th Chief Minister of Tripura on March 9, 2018, he stepped down from the state CM post on May 14 this year. He was then succeeded by Manik Saha who took oath as Tripura’s Chief Minister on May 15.
