Priyanka Gandhi's 'advertisements enough...' attack at PM Modi over Manipur

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party BJP over the Manipur violence, saying advertisements of greatness won't be enough to become great. This comes as four villagers were gunned down on Monday in Thoubal district.

Gandhi said PM Modi hadn't gone to Manipur nor met a delegation of the leaders from the state.

"Four people were killed in Manipur, many people were injured, there is curfew in many districts. The people of Manipur have been facing murder, violence and destruction for eight months. When will this trend stop?" she wrote on X.

India No Longer Speaks To Pakistan, explains S Jaishankar

India is not playing that game anymore, says External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. For years, Pakistan has fuelled hostilities through its support of cross-border terrorism to bring India to the negotiation table, but India has stopped playing that game, according to the 68-year-old former Indian Foreign Service (IFS) official.

And India of today refuses to deal with Pakistan on the basis of terms set by its western neighbour where the practice of terrorism is deemed legitimate, said Jaishankar, in a recent interview with news agency ANI.

Truckers protest over new hit-and-run law

It's day 2 of truckers in several parts of the country sitting in protest over a provision of the new criminal law codes dealing with the issue of hit-and-run accidents. There have been reports of protestors blocking highways and roads in several parts and refusing to ply their vehicles. The ongoing nationwide truckers protest has sparked fears of shortages at petrol and diesel stations in the country, leading to panic buying. On Tuesday, visuals came in from several parts of the country showing people queuing up at petrol and diesel pumps worried about an impending fuel shortage.

Dress code for devotees entering Jagannath temple begins from today

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has asked the devotees visiting the iconic temple in Puri in Odisha to not wear clothes such as shorts, ripped jeans and skirts from today while entering the temple premises and said that police and the temple servitors would keep an eye on anyone wearing “indecent” clothes.

The temple administration chief administrator Ranjan Kumar Das said devotees should wear traditional clothes like trouser pants, churidar, salwar kameez and dhoti while entering the temple.

New criminal code laws passed by Parliament challenged in Supreme Court

Apublic interest litigation (PIL) has been filed before the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the implementation of the three new criminal code bills passed by Parliament. The three bills became Acts after receiving President Droupadi Murmu's assent on December 25.

Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita replaced the Indian Penal Code, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita replaced the Code of Criminal Procedure, and Bharatiya Sakshya Sanhita replaced the Indian Evidence Act.
