#India To Get First Indigenous Hydrogen Train By December 2023, Says Railway Minister

Railways and Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Sunday, said that the first indigenously designed and built hydrogen train would roll out in December 2023. As per the minister, like Vande Bharat, the Indian Railways is working on the new environment-friendly trains and the engineers are designing it. "The design process is already going on and we should be able to roll out the first hydrogen train in the country by December 2023," he added. The world's first-ever fleet of Hydrogen-powered trains was tested in Germany recently and the country will replace around 14 diesel trains to induct world's greenest train. 

The Railways is manufacturing Vande Metro train which will replace those designed in 1950s and 60s, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw further said"We are designing and the design should be out by anywhere by May or June -- We are designing a worldclass Vande Metro which will be a great leap forward," Vaishnaw told reporters during an interaction.

Amid allegations of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) taking money from China, Congress on Monday hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleging a connection between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's son and Chinese funds. While speaking to media, Congress leader Pawan Khera said that information on RGF taking funds from China is available in public domain and that organisations receive grants from everywhere in this manner.

He then alleged that organisation for which External Affairs Minister's son works has received grants from Chinese Embassy thrice. "We didn't level any allegations as that is how funds are raised," he added.

#Indo-China: Eying China, Govt Plans A 1,700-km 'Frontier Highway'

The government, in the next five years, will build a new highway in Arunachal Pradesh that will run close to the India-Tibet-China-Myanmar border. At some locations, the 'frontier highway' will be as close as 20km from the international border.

The 1,748-km long two-lane road, which has huge strategic significance and aims to stop migration of people from border areas, will be built by the road transport ministry. This is the longest NH that the Centre has notified in one go in recent times.

Central Intelligence Agency (CAI) chief Bill Burns heaped praise on PM Modi saying that his views on the use of nuclear weapons had an impact on the Russians and could have averted a global disaster in the context of the Ukraine War. CIA Director Burns said that Chinese premier Xi Jinping and PM Modi have raised their concerns about the use of nuclear weapons and that could have proved useful.

He said though there is no clear evidence of Russia's plan to use tactical nuclear weapons, the saber-rattling may be meant to intimidate Ukraine.

Bawankule's remark gave ammunition to the Opposition parties on the eve of the state's legislature session, with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) saying it showed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had no value for current CM Shinde.

Speaking at a public event in Nagpur, Bawankule said, "...As long as I am the state unit president (of the BJP), Fadnavis should become..." The BJP leader left the sentence incomplete and paused as he waited for a response from the audience.
