The Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi re-entered Haryana on Thursday evening from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, a senior party leader said.

However, Rahul Gandhi left for Delhi to meet his ailing mother Sonia Gandhi and will return next morning, former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said.

"The yatra entered Haryana from Sanoli border in Panipat in the evening. Rahul ji left for Delhi to meet his mother who is ill. He will return to Panipat on Friday morning and the yatra will then resume its Haryana leg," Hooda told PTI over phone.

Congress leader Hussain Dalwar has come under sharp criticism from the BJP after he said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath should stop wearing his saffron attire.

Dalwar said that Adityanath should start wearing modern clothes if he wants to attract business in his state.

BJP’s Ram Kadam hit out at Dalwar over his remarks and asked why Congress leaders and their party have so much hatred for the saffron colour, which he said is the “sacred color of the Hindu religion”.

Sonia Gandhi, the former president of India’s grand-old political party Congress, was admitted to a hospital in Delhi on Wednesday following complaints of respiratory infection.

The Congress politician was accompanied by her daughter and party’s general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, PTI news agency reported quoting sources. She is undergoing treatment at Ganga Ram Hospital.

The report added that this was a routine check-up for the 76-year-old leader, who has been unwell since Tuesday.

An expert has claimed that over 70% of the population in Shanghai is already infected with Covid amidst the alarming surge in cases in China. "Now the spread of the epidemic in Shanghai is very wide, and it may have reached 70 per cent of the population, which is 20 to 30 times more than (in April and May)," 

Chen Erzhen, vice president at Ruijin Hospital and a member of Shanghai's Covid expert advisory panel told Dajiangdong Studio, which is owned by state media People's Daily. Xi Jinping has admitted a failure of zero covid policy and it failed to contain the virus. India has put restriction on travelers who are coming from China. 

A war-like situation has erupted between the Pakistan Army and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Now, the TTP – also known as the Pakistan Taliban – has threatened to kill top leaders of the PML-N and PPP, which form the ruling coalition in the country.

These include Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other ministers of the national cabinet.

The warning by the TTP came after the Afghan Taliban threatened the Pakistan Army with a 1971 rerun in case of an attack on Afghanistan.
