West Bengal's Visva Bharati authorities have issued an eviction notice to Amartya Sen over the ongoing land row and said that the Nobel-laureate economist has occupied a portion of land in West Bengal's Santiniketan in an unauthorised manner. The letter reached Amartya's Shantinikatan address on Sunday.
In the letter sent to the address of 'Pratichi', Amartya Sen or any of his representatives were asked to be present at the conference hall of Visva Bharati's Central Admission Building on March 29. There will be a hearing on the 'controversial' land.
The letter to Amartya Sen Visva Bharati claimed that the Nobel-laureate has occupied 13 decimals of Visva Bharati's land. Therefore, a question was raised regarding why wouldn't he be evicted from that land in accordance with the law.
