#India Working Towards Ending TB By 2025, 5 Years Before Global Target: PM Modi in Varanasi

Reaffirming India's commitment towards ensuring a TB-free society, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the country was working towards meeting the target of eradicating tuberculosis by 2025, five years ahead of the global target.

"Year 2030 is the global target to eradicate TB but India is now working on the target of eradicating the disease by 2025," PM Modi sad while addressing the 'One World TB Summit' in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

The PM had called on India to achieve the target by 2025, five years ahead of stipulated time, in March 2018, during End TB summit held in New Delhi.

#India Can Become World's No.1 Automobile Manufacturer In EV Segment: Minister Nitin Gadkari

India can become world's number one automobile manufacturer in electric vehicle segment, said Union minister Nitin Gadkari, adding that if India can use recently discovered reserve of lithium in Jammu and Kashmir.

India has beaten Japan to become the third largest vehicle market in 2022 after China and the USA.

"Every year, we import 1,200 tonnes of lithium. Now, in Jammu and Kashmir, we got lithium. (If) we can use this lithium ion, we will be the number one automobile manufacturing country in the world," he said, as per a PTI report.

#Rahul's Disqualification Has Many Ramifications, May Have To Vacate Official Bungalow

From being barred from contesting elections for eight years to losing his official bungalow in Lutyens' Delhi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from the Lok Sabha has several possible ramifications.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat on Friday notified Gandhi's disqualification from the Lower House of Parliament within a day after a court in Surat convicted him in a 2019 criminal defamation case and awarded two years of imprisonment to him.

"Consequent upon his conviction by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Surat...Rahul Gandhi, Member of Lok Sabha representing the Wayanad Parliamentary Constituency of Kerala stands disqualified from the membership of Lok Sabha from the date of his conviction i.e. 23 March, 2023," the notification read.

#Defence: Ministry Signs Two Contracts Worth Rs 3,700 Crore With BEL For Medium-Power Radars

Giving an impetus to the Narendra Modi government's ambitious 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, the defence ministry on Thursday signed two contracts worth Rs 3,700 crore with the defence public sector undertaking, Bharat Electronics (BEL) for medium-power radars 'Arudhra' and 129 DR-118 radar warning receivers for Indian Air Force. 

With the induction of these systems, the Indian Air Force's surveillance, detection, tracking and electronic warfare capabilities will be enhanced. The DR-118 radar warning receivers will further strengthen the Russian-origin fighter aircraft Sukhoi-30 MKI.

#Punjab Police Arrests Man Linked To Amritpal From Delhi's Tilak Vihar

Punjab Police arrested a man from Delhi's Tilak Vihar allegedly linked to Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh. Amit Singh, who works as an insurance agent, was arrested on Tuesday, the police said.

Addressing the media on the Amritpal case, Inspector General of Police Sukhchain Gill said, "Peaceful conditions completely prevail in the state. No innocent person will be harassed by the police. The chief minister has given clear instructions."
