#Indo-Sino: After India Objects To China Renaming Places In Arunachal, Beijing Claims 'Sovereignty' Over Region

After India outrightly rejected China's attempt to rename places of Arunachal Pradesh, Beijing on Tuesday claimed its "sovereignty" over the region.

In a regular press conference, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said, "Zangnan (Arunachal Pradesh) is part of China's territory. In accordance with relevant stipulations of the administration of geographical names of the State Council, competent authorities of the Chinese government have standardised the names of some parts of Zangnan. This is within China's sovereign rights."

Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Tuesday asserted that Arunachal Pradesh will always be an integral part of India.

#Supreme Court Lays Down Guidelines For Courts Adopting 'Sealed Cover' Procedure

The Supreme Court on Thursday laid down comprehensive guidelines for courts adopting 'sealed cover' procedure during hearing matters relating to national security.

The apex court said the government has to first convince the court of national security and then justify how such concern overrides the principle of natural justice.

The top court was hearing a plea of the news channel MediaOne against the Kerala High Court's order which had upheld the Centre's decision to ban its telecast on security grounds.

Noida International Airport Latest update: Envisioned to be India’s largest airport by the state and central governments, the new airport is coming up in Uttar Pradesh's Jewar. Being built by Switzerland’s Zurich Airport International, the Noida airport is expected to begin operations by end 2024.

The master plan development of the Noida airport or the Jewar airport as it is also commonly called is foreseen in four phases. Once complete, the Noida International Airport is touted to be India’s largest airport. To begin with the Jewar airport will open with a single runway and passenger terminal building, aiming to handle a capacity of 12 million passengers annually. Eventually, the plans are to expand capacity to 70 million passengers per annum.

#Sikkim Avalanche: 7 Killed in Nathula, 12 Injured; MHA Takes Stock of Situation

At least seven tourists were killed and 12 others injured in a major avalanche in Sikkim’s Nathula area on Tuesday. As many as 20 people have been rescued so far.

“By 3 PM, 14 persons were rescued and taken to nearby Army medical facility. However, seven persons succumbed. The other seven persons were administered first aid and returned to Gangtok,” Indian Army said.

The District Magistrate of Gangtok informed that rescue operations have been called off and there is no more requirement of the NDRF. He said that twelve injured are undergoing treatment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled deaths and wished speedy recover to injured.

#NCERT Drops Chapters On Mughal Empire From Class 12 History Books. Kapil Mishra Says ‘Akbar…’

After National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) announced its decision to erase certain chapters on the Mughal Empire from the class 12 history textbooks , BJP leader Kapil Mishra lauded the move. Alleging that ‘thieves’ were being referred to as the Mughal rulers, he said that the initiative will shine light on the ‘truth’.

Retweeting a video on the revised textbooks, he wrote, “It is a great decision to remove false history of Mughals from NCERT. Thieves, pickpockets and two-penny road raiders were called the Mughal Sultanate and the emperor of India. Akbar, Babar, Shahjahan, Aurangzeb are not in the history books, they are in the dustbin.”
