Senior police officers said that even though they had visited the crime spot, deployed sniffer dogs and taken fingerprints from the weapon – Insas rifle – which had reportedly gone missing since Monday and was reportedly used in the crime on Wednesday, their probe was still in progress.

They, however, held while their probe was on, the Army was also intensely investigating the matter. There was, however, no word from the Army on any headway in the matter till going to the Press.

Thousands of demonstrators carried placards and raised vociferous anti-Israel and anti-America slogans in a show of solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine amid heightened tensions and renewed violence in the occupied Palestinian territory. Muslims across Kashmir marched through the streets after Friday prayers to express solidarity with the struggling Palestinians and for freedom of Al Aqsa Mosque, the first Qibla of Islam. 

Raising ‘Free Palestine slogans, thousands joined rallies in parts of Kashmir. A large procession was taken out in Magam town of Kashmir. People carrying yellow flags of Hezbollah and portraits of resistance leaders shouted slogans against US and Israel.

#PM Modi Speaks To UK PM Rishi Sunak Over Phone, Seeks Progress On Return Of Economic Offenders

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a telephonic conversation with UK's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

During the phone conversations, the two leaders reviewed the progress on a number of bilateral issues, particularly in trade and economic sectors. The Prime Minister also sought progress on the return of economic offenders.

"PM Modi raised the issue of security of Indian diplomatic establishments in the UK and called for strong action against anti-India elements. Rishi Sunak conveyed that the UK considers the attack on Indian High Commission totally unacceptable and assured of security of the Indian Mission and its personnel," the PMO said in a statement.

#Jailed Gangster-Politician Atiq Ahmed's Son, Aide Killed In Encounter With UP Cops

Jailed gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed's third son Mohd Asad, 20, and his aide Ghulam Mohd, 40, were killed by UP police's special task force on Thursday in a shootout after intercepting the fugitive duo on a bike near Jhansi.

Both were on the run the past 50 days since being accused of killing Prayagraj lawyer Umesh Pal, the main witness in the 2005 murder of BSP legislator Raju Pal. Atiq and his brother Ashraf are the main suspects in the MLA's killing.

With these deaths, four accused allegedly involved in Pal's murder have been killed so far. Special DG (law and order) Prashant Kumar said police had inputs the two were planning to ambush a convoy bringing Atiq from Sabarmati jail to Prayagraj via Jhansi.

#Bengaluru to Delhi: India's Top 5 Cities in Direct Tax Collection

Owing to rising industrial hubs and IT sectors, Bengaluru is set to surpass Delhi to become the second-highest contributor in the country’s direct tax collection, as per an internal analysis of the Income-Tax Department. Mumbai, however, remained at the top position. According to the data, Bengaluru collected Rs 2.04 trillion in this financial year as against Rs 32,692 crore in FY08. Mumbai and Delhi, on the other hand, collected Rs 4.95 trillion and Rs 2.07 trillion, respectively during FY 23. During the period 2007-08 to 2022-23, India’s technology capital has shown a high growth of 525 per cent in direct tax collection, including personal income and corporation tax.
