#Judiciary: 4 Supreme Court Judges Down With Covid

At least four Supreme Court judges have been infected by the Covid-19 virus, and a fifth one recovered recently.

The four includes a judge who is part of the five-judge Constitution Bench hearing petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriages.

Yet another judge on the bench is learnt to have suffered a fall, following which he has been advised rest. Consequently, the hearing in the matter scheduled for Monday has been put off.

#Poonch Terror Attack: Search Op Underway With Drones, Special Forces; Several Suspects Detained

After five Indian Army personnel were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Thursday, a massive search operation has been launched by security forces to nab the terrorists behind the attack. According to reports, dense forests are becoming a struggle to carry out the manhunt.

According to Defense Sources, the Indian Army has launched multiple special forces teams along with drones and surveillance helicopters who are carrying out search and destroy ops in the suspected area. The security forces including the Army, Police, and Intelligence Agencies are coordinating the operations, reports stated.

Several suspects have also been detained by security forces for questioning after the Poonch terror attack.

Sharing a photograph of his Wednesday evening meeting with Kumar on Twitter, Rawat wrote, "Shri Nitish Kumar, the strong voice of opposition unity in 2024..."

However, when asked about the meeting, Rawat said Kumar is an old friend and he had travelled to Patna to appreciate his good works.

"He is our old friend. He is doing good work and it is everyone's responsibility to salute good work," he said.

#Monetary Policy Is At Work, Substantial Disinflation Achieved: RBI Bulletin

Monetary policy is at work. Substantial disinflation has been achieved, but the road to be travelled stretches ahead till inflation declines to the target of 4 per cent, said an article published in RBI's latest Bulletin.

The government has mandated the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to ensure retail inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) remains at 4 per cent with a margin of 2 per cent on either side.

Inflation during January-February 2023 exceeded the upper tolerance limit of 6 per cent after a transitory respite during November-December 2022.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday (April 20) said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would campaign in about 20 places in poll-bound state. CM Bommai also said the Prime Minister's campaign program is being finalized.

Speaking to reporters, CM Bommai said, "There is all possibility of the Prime Minister campaigning in about 20 places. In most (of these) places, he will address rally-meeting and in some, there will be road shows."

Karnataka would go to polls on May 10, and the results will be declared on May 13. PM Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and a strong team of Union Ministers figure in the list of the party's 40-star campaigners for the elections.
