#BJP Revives MADHAV Formula To Consolidate OBC Support Ahead of Maharashtra Polls

In preparation for the upcoming 2024 Assembly elections, the Maharashtra BJP is once again focusing on the MADHAV formula to consolidate support from the Mali, Dhangar, and Vanjari (Banjara) communities, primarily recognized as OBCs. As part of this strategy, the recent proposal to rename Ahmednagar as Ahilyanagar is a significant move.

Ahilyadevi Holkar, an emblem of courage, charity, and religious work, is highly revered by the Dhangar community, almost equivalent to a deity.

The Dhangar community plays a pivotal role in various districts, including Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur, Pune, Akola, Parbhani, Nanded, and Yavatmal. Experts indicate that the Dhangar community has a presence in approximately 100 Vidhan Sabha constituencies, with a decisive vote share in over 40 constituencies.
