#'Manipur is Burning Today': As Violence Flares Up Again, Civil Society Groups Call For Immediate Ceasefire

With violence flaring up again in Manipur, as many as 550 civil society groups and eminent personalities from across the country have condemned the continuing unrest in the northeastern state, urging all parties for an immediate ceasefire. They have given a call to immediately stop the "divisive politics" by the state and security forces. 

In a statement, eminent parliamentarians, police officers, bureaucrats, journalists, lawyers and academicians have expressed deep concern over the continuing ethnic violence in Manipur between the Meitei community and the tribal Kuki and Zo communities since early May 2023.
